For a long time, digital learning had remained a poorly served market. Claned founders first observed this during their time working together at Nokia Corporation in the late 1990s. As the years went by, they witnessed little to no significant change.
Organisations and industries were forcing traditional classroom approaches onto digital channels with predictably little impact on learning itself. Nor was this a helpful approach for the organizations’ operations and business outcomes. Something had to change.
Learners, and organisations, deserved better. Eager to offer a solution they had long believed in, Claned founders set out to combine online pedagogy and learning analytics to deliver online learning that could be both engaging and effective.
Before the first impact of the pandemic in early 2020, the digital learning platform market had been an underdeveloped landscape. Decision-makers had a hard time envisioning how well online learning could be done and, as a result, settled for more conventional but less sophisticated solutions.
But as remote work became the new norm, organisations quickly realised that they must innovate and find new ways to train both internal and external target audiences online. The demand for learning data and analytics started growing too, as organisations sought to measure the impact of learning on individual, group, and organisational levels.
In the future, companies must take more seriously the need for competence development and continuous development. We believe that in the future, not all learning will come from top-down approaches but will be more about knowledge sharing within teams. At the same time, artificial intelligence will become a central part of course creation and knowledge acquisition. Therefore, Claned always looks ahead to the next wave which can make learning more high-quality and efficient.
Vesa is new business developer by heart and loves closing deals and creating partnership opportunities. He has co-founded Claned. He has over 33 years experience in digital learning as teacher and education developer, with companies in skills and competence development and now happily in Claned as Chief Business Development Officer! His passion is problem-solving sales and new business development with Claned services! In his free time he pushes his physical limits by biking, free skiing, gym and ice hockey ring and enjoying the Finnish nature all year around.
Victor is a Full Stack AI Engineer with a background in social sciences, drawn to systems at every scale — from product architecture to socio-technological infrastructure. At Claned, they build AI-integrated features and internal tooling across the full stack, combining engineering depth with an analyst's instinct for how systems behave in the real world. You can find Victor deep-diving on Wikipedia, tinkering around with local LLMs, or exploring the woods.
Tea is a Customer Support Specialist with a background in social psychology and research, who is fascinated by the myriad ways that different people can interpret the same thing — and what that means for design that works for everyone. At Claned, she bridges customer needs and product development, with a particular focus on meeting users where they are. You may run into Tea by a thrift store’s yarn bins, listening to contemporary scifi audiobooks and dreaming up craft projects of uncertain destiny.
